Allston Rock City gets even louder this year as a reunited Blake Babies will take the stage on Saturday, September 10 at POP Allston for the main event block party of the newly expanded Allston's Awesome Christmas.

The legendary Boston alternative rock band, who became a college radio mainstay in the 1980s and launched the career of Juliana Hatfield, will headline the two year old event. Once merely an idea on a bar napkin, last year's Allston Christmas Block Party will join forces with Awesome Day Fest for three massive days and nights of locally grown live music and comedy on September 9, 10, and 11.

Do617 Content Manager Clay N. Ferno says, "In an age of band reunions for Boston rock bands, we are honored that Blake Babies will be gracing our stage. Juliana (Hatfield) along with John and Freda are back, and before they head on tour, they join our Awesome free party in Allston.

An outdoor concert venue welcoming the students back into town pays homage to similar events that used to happen in the '90s as we move forward into the age of food trucks, outdoor adult fun and community activity. Are you registered to vote yet, kids? Let's rock it this year."

Blake Babies last played live earlier this year, which marked the band's first performances since 2001. Presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon x Boston and supported by and Allston Village Main Streets, with additional sponsorship from Deep Eddy Vodka, Allston's Awesome Christmas is a truly local, ground-up festival, welcoming old and new residents to the Hub while established as well as fresh talent in the Boston music community. The main event block party on Saturday will also feature performances by up-and-coming hip hop artist Dutch Rebelle, Boston punk mainstays the Doped Up Dollies, and alternative rock upstarts Weakened Friends. Red Bull sponsors the mobile stage...and always giving us energy. Keeping with the theme of welcoming new and old Bostonians, hip hop staple JAM'N 945will be bringing their Campus Invasion voter registration station as well.Sparkling Ice will be providing some tasty flavors for us to sample. Our friends at Hint Water will be keeping us hydrated. Vice Cream will be providing delicious ice cream samples.

In addition, this year brings Awesome Day Fest-curated stages at Great Scott and O'Brien's Pub into the fold with shows on Friday and Saturday nights, with performances by Jake McKelvie & the CountertopsThe Sheila Divine, Black Helicopter, Eldridge Rodriguez, and more.

Wristbands for individual shows are $12, with a $20 wristband available for access to all four nighttime shows.
